Michigan Congressman Wants 50-Cent Tax Hike on Every Gallon of Gas
A Michigan congressman wants to put a 50-cent tax on every gallon of gasoline to try to cut back on Americans’ consumption.
Democrats got us into this oil mess in the first place by not letting us drill for our own oil, not letting us build refineries, objecting to wind farms because they’re ugly - and now, typically, it’s the Democrats who want to punish America’s citizens for using gasoline!Polls show that a majority of Americans support policies that would reduce greenhouse gases. But when it comes to paying for it, it’s a different story.
Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., wants to help cut consumption with a gas tax but some don’t agree with the idea, according to a new poll by the National Center for Public Policy Research. The poll, scheduled to be released on Thursday, shows 48 percent don’t support paying even a penny more, 28 percent would pay up to 50 cents more, 10 percent would pay more than 50 cents and 8 percent would pay more than a dollar.
*snip*
While Dingell’s idea will likely lie dormant until after the 2008 election, the idea of carbon taxes is not. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain all support some type of system that either directly or indirectly will raise prices to penalize polluters.
I thought Democrats were supposed to be for the little people. Actually I know better, but that’s what they claim. Congressman Dingbat’s Dingell’s idea will cripple people already struggling to get through the month. Do people who approve of this idiocy have no conscience whatsoever? I personally don’t understand why people continue to vote for Democrats who are the very same people who keep them saddled with high taxes on everything imaginable! How are the people on the lower end of the totem poll salary-wise supposed to be able to afford driving to work? Oh... that’s right. Silly me! Democrats would rather they not work. They would rather keep people helpless and dependent on the Government for handouts because that means making them dependent on Democrats! Although Republicans hold the White House, let us not forget that Democrats are the majority in the House and Senate. (As if most of my readers could ever forget that. Ha!)
As Neal Boorts so accurately states:
“A significant part of the Democrat agenda is the war on individuality. This is no fig newton of my imagination. Master Democrat Ted Kennedy has made reference to this war in just those terms. Following a New England Patriots Super Bowl win several years ago Kennedy stumbled up to the microphone to share in the celebration, there to praise the teamwork of the Patriots, so welcome at a time that we are engaged in a “war against individuality.”
Ted Kennedy must have been drunk again... he actually told the truth!
Yet many poor people, not realizing how they are being duped by the Dems, continue to ignorantly vote for the party that keeps them down, keeps them dependent, and through revisionist history, keeps them ignorant. It will take a far greater mind than mine to figure this out, but I can say without reservation that there are many good folks out there who are Democrats and also patriotic Americans. It is a puzzlement to me that they don’t seem to understand how the party of their parents has changed. This is no longer the Democratic party that President John F. Kennedy belonged to, but this year tons of poor folks will vote Democrat and thus unkowingly feed the party that takes food out of their mouths and gas out of their cars. One thing the Democrats accomplish extremely well is the myth that big Government, thus Big Brother, should take care of everyone, while at the same time punishing the people with higher taxes. Hillary Clinton has said she will protect the Social Security system through ” fiscal responsibility” - which is simply another way of saying she will raise taxes without actually saying it so that everyone understands it. As for Obama, with all that’s submerged about him as of late he may very well be out of the picture, but if you don’t know by now what he is in favor of, see “The Obama Delusion” at Real Clear Politics.
